Establishment of the Adult Learning and Education Network in Kosovo (ALE NK)
On October 27–28, 2022, at the initiative of DVV International and in close cooperation with key state stakeholders in the field of Adult Education in Kosovo such as: the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education in Kosovo (AVETAE), the Employment Agency of the Republic of Kosovo (EARK/8 Vocational Training Centers – VTCs), as well as local NGOs such as the Kosovo Education Center (KEC), the NGO Hareja, and the European College of Kosovo (ECK)—the first two-day workshop was held, during which the founding act of the new network for Adult Education in Kosovo was signed, called the Adult Learning and Education Network in Kosovo – ALE NK.
The purpose of establishing the ALE NK Network was to promote and enhance cooperation between relevant ministries and responsible agencies for Adult Learning and Education (ALE) in Kosovo, as well as other state and non-state ALE providers at the central and local levels. Additionally, it aimed to institutionalize and further develop the intersectoral role of ALE and Lifelong Learning (LLL) in Kosovo.
The ALE NK Network will significantly contribute to the capacity building of Adult Learning and Education (ALE) providers, as well as to raising awareness among decision-makers and the broader public about the overall benefits of ALE development in Kosovo.
A key focus of the ALE NK Network will be advocacy and lobbying for the recognition and further development of Adult Learning and Education (ALE) in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the advancement of non-formal education.
Through awareness campaigns and the promotion of cooperation among key stakeholders and other ALE providers in Kosovo, ALE NK will establish a regular and systematic monitoring process of participation and motivation in all forms of ALE in Kosovo.
